Mount Alumnae Featured in Reader’s Digest

2/1/2018

Riverdale, N.Y. – Kylee McGrane ’17 and Maggie McAndrew ’17 were featured in an article in the February 2018 issue of Reader’s Digest, “The Heartwarming Reason These Students Dress as Princesses for Sick Kids.” The story explores what these two young women, and many other college-age students who volunteer, do in order to bring a moment of magic to sick children.

The article highlights A Moment of Magic, a nonprofit organization that strives to lift the spirits of children who are battling against chronic illnesses. Ms. McGrane and Ms. McAndrew, co-founders of the organization, came up with the idea of dressing up as Disney princesses and visiting pediatric cancer patients during their time at the Mount. A Moment of Magic, formally known as the Princess Project, has been around since 2015 and has since gained 400 volunteers from at least 11 different colleges around the country.

Their work with A Moment of Magic has been recognized worldwide. They have been featured by Times Leader, Today, Study Breaks, USA Today College and several other media outlets.
