Mount Alumnus Discusses Microbiological Sciences and Infection Prevention

Matthew Arduino ’79 Presents at ParaMount Perspectives Speaker Series

Riverdale, N.Y. – The ParaMount Perspectives Speaker Series presents Mount alumnus Matthew J. Arduino ’79, M.S., Dr.P.H., Chief of Clinical and Environmental Microbiology at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, on October 15, 2014 at 4 p.m. in Science Hall, Room 101.

Dr. Arduino, a 25-year veteran of the CDC, will talk about his work, including applying microbiological sciences to infection prevention in healthcare settings. He is an expert in environmental infection control, environmental microbiology, dialysis-associated diseases, healthcare-associated infections, disinfection and sterilization, and water treatment. He has authored or coauthored 147 scientific articles, nine book chapters, three training manuals, and contributed to 20 articles published in the MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report).

He currently serves on the editorial review board for Applied and Environmental Microbiology and Nephrology News and Issues, and is an adhoc reviewer for 14 other peer reviewed science and medical journals. Dr. Arduino’s talk will also include a discussion of various scientific disciplines, jobs at the CDC, and how to find out about training opportunities.
