2/24/2012

Riverdale, N.Y. — The University of Mount Saint Vincent Student Nurses Association will travel to Albany to participate in Lobby Day April 17, 2012. The purpose of Lobby Day, organized by the New York State Nurses Association, is for nurses and nursing students to persuade the State Legislature to establish minimum nurse-to-patient staffing ratios in acute care facilities, support the future of nursing by requiring all RNs to earn a bachelor’s degree within 10 years of licensure, establish a single payer health plan for all New York State residents, and require all facilities to establish safe patient handling policies to reduce manual lifting.

The event takes place at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany, New York on April 17th. Nursing students who are interested in attending can get more information on the NYSNA website.
