Mount Saint Vincent Hosts 5th Annual Student Research and Service Symposium

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent will host its 5th Annual Student Research and Service Symposium on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. in Smith Hall. This event showcases the outstanding original research and service learning projects that Mount students complete every year.

The University of Mount Saint Vincent Student Research and Service Symposium is held to recognize students who have engaged in significant research and service initiatives, as well as the faculty and staff who serve as their mentors. Students will have the opportunity to present and highlight their recent research and service accomplishments to the campus community along with College benefactors, peers, parents, and local guidance counselors and principals.

2015 Student Research and Service Symposium: Works and Participants

Sheree Brown-Carter ’15 (Jamaica, N.Y.) will present her research titled, “21st Century Medical Education: Integrated Education in Health Care Professions.”

Kelly Bloom ’15 (Bronx, N.Y.), Emily Forsyth ’15 (Lynbrook, N.Y.), and Jaymee Wilson ’15 (Hopkins, Texas) will present their research titled, “Achievement Goals as a Predictor of Academic Satisfaction.”

Amanda Correa ’15 (Monroe, N.Y.) will present her research titled, “Art as Social Intervention: Cultural Exchange Phase Two; PS 7 in the Bronx and the Huilcapata School, Cusco, Peru.”

Alaysia Carrington ’16 (Bronx, N.Y.) will present her research titled, “Attachment Anxiety Leads to Fear of Becoming Fat Due to Increased Binge Eating.”

James Wilkins ’15 (Bristol, Mass.) will present his research titled, “Audience Perception of Different Genders in Sports Broadcasting.”

Margaret McAndrew ’17 (Milford, Conn.) will present her research titled, “Beowulf and Sir Gawain: Clash of Cultures.”

Alexis Rosa ’15 (Bronx, N.Y.) will present her research titled, “The Biology and Epidemiology of the Five Neglected Parasitic Infections in the United States as Reported By the Centers for Disease Control.”

Katherine Moreira ’15 (Bronx, N.Y.) will present her research titled, “The Business of Service: A Year at the UN.”

Dwaine Pryce ’15 (Brooklyn, N.Y.) will present his research titled, “Cellular Mechanism of Arsenic Resistance in Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes.”

Chanel Aguilera ’16 (New York, N.Y.) will present her research titled, “Changing Gender Roles and the Persistence of Masculinity.”

Nicholas Malizia ’17 (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Marielle Villanobos ’17 (Monroe Township, N.J.) will present their research titled, “The Clover and the Cross: The Adverse Long Term Effects of Irish Immigration.”

Bernardo Garcia ’15 (Jersey City, N.J.) will present his research titled, “Complications in the Female Pelvis as a Result of Bipedalism.”

Marisa Rosario ’15 (White Plains, N.Y.) will present her research titled, “The Correlation of Decreased Physical Education and Increased Obesity in Children and Youth.”
