Mount Saint Vincent Trustee Elected to Council of Governing Boards

Riverdale, N.Y. – University of Mount Saint Vincent Board of Trustee member Stefano Acunto has been elected as vice chairman of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (cIcu) Council of Governing Boards (CGB) for the 2018-2019 term. Mr. Acunto currently serves as secretary of the CGB. The CGB is a statewide association that represents the policy interests of more than 3,000 independent college and university trustees through the cIcu. Elections for the officers were held during the Council’s annual meeting at the Cornell Club on November 16, 2017.

Mr. Acunto is chairman of CINN Group, a private group of companies with interests in insurance, reinsurance, international commerce, publishing, and entertainment. He serves on the Board of Trustees at the cIcu, the University of Mount Saint Vincent, John Cabot University of Rome, and is a member of the Board of Chancellors at Consular Corps College, based in Washington. He serves on the board of directors at the New York Risk and Insurance Exchange (NYIREX) and several other companies in the financial sector. Appointed Hon. Vice Consul for Italy in New York State from 2002-2017, he was decorated with the rank of Commendatore, Order of Merit, Republic of Italy, and, in 2009, received Italy’s Star of Solidarity for his service. He is also the chairman of the Italian Academy Foundation and the American Friends of La Scala. Mr. Acunto holds his B.A. and M.A. degrees in classical philology from New York University.
