Riverdale, N.Y. – On Sunday, October 30, more than 1,000 prospective students and their families will visit the University of Mount Saint Vincent’s landmark campus situated on 70 acres overlooking the Hudson River in New York City. The College has prepared a full schedule of events, including an academic and student life fair, financial aid sessions, workshops and panel discussions highlighting the College’s nationally recognized programs, and conversations with current faculty and students.

The day begins with breakfast and check-in at 9:30 a.m. in the College’s Peter Jay Sharp Athletic and Recreation Center lobby. Students interested in playing on one of the Mount’s NCAA Division III athletics teams are invited to have breakfast in the dance studio, where they will meet with coaches and learn more about the Mount’s sports programs. Breakfast will be followed by a welcome from President Charles L. Flynn, Jr. at 10:30 a.m. in Cardinal Hayes Auditorium.

Campus tours will leave every 15 minutes from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., starting at the No-Book Store on the first floor of Founders Hall. The tours will include the College’s Fishlinger Center for Public Policy Research, newly-renovated science and nursing labs, state-of-the-art radio and TV studios, dining and residence halls, and the Mount’s athletic and recreation center.

Prospective students are invited to attend workshops based on their interests between 11:15 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The Admission and Financial Aid workshop, held in Smith Hall on the second floor of Founders Hall, will highlight the myriad ways scholarships and financial aid help make a Mount education affordable for students and their families. Counselors will be available to address individual questions and concerns.

A panel discussion, Exceptional: Academics and Career Education, will be held in Benedict’s on the first floor of Founders Hall. The panel, led by the Provost and representatives from Academic Advising, the Oxley Career Education Program, the Honors Program, and the Mount Mentors Program, will provide prospective students with the chance to learn how a Mount education is exceptional in providing excellent career preparation and beyond.

The Mount Pathways Programs discussion, held in the Blue Room on the second floor of Founders Hall, will feature the Dean of the Undergraduate College and representatives from our TRIO, HEOP, and MAP programs. During this discussion, prospective students will learn about the Mount’s support and advising programs designed to help students succeed.

Prospective students will also have a choice of another three workshops based on their area of interest between 12:15 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. Additionally, there will be a financial aid workshop, held in Benedict’s on the first floor of Founders Hall, offering families who prefer to communicate in Spanish the opportunity to learn more about the College’s scholarships and financial aid packages.

The Outside the Classroom student session, held in the Blue Room, will feature a panel discussion with current students who will share what it’s like to be a Mount student. Prospective students will be able to ask questions about academics, student life, opportunities to be involved on and off campus, and much more.

Meanwhile, the Outside the Classroom parent session, held in Smith Hall, will feature the Dean of Students, as well as representatives from student activities, residence life, campus ministry, and athletics, who will inform families about campus life and the opportunities available to students beyond the classroom.

The Academic and Student Life Fair, held from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. in the Peter Jay Sharp Athletic and Recreation Center, will allow prospective students meet with faculty from all academic programs, as well as representatives from athletics, student services, and student organizations.
