Shadi Khayyo ’17 Receives a Westchester Chemical Society Outstanding Student Achievement Award

Riverdale, N.Y. – University of Mount Saint Vincent Biochemistry and Chemistry major and Honors Shadi Khayyo ’17 was recognized with a Westchester Chemical Society Outstanding Student Achievement Award in a freshman-level chemistry course at the Westchester Chemical Society Distinguished Scientist Award dinner on Wednesday, May 1, 2014 at Pace University in Pleasantville, NY.

Mr. Khayyo was nominated by Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Andrea Minei as the College’s most outstanding student in a freshman-level chemistry course. The nomination was based on scholastic performance, laboratory aptitude, and probability of pursuing a career in the chemical sciences.

Students from more than 10 colleges and universities in and around Westchester County – including New York University, Fordham University, Pace University, Iona College, Mercy College, Manhattan College, and College of New Rochelle – were also recognized. The award consists of a certificate and a copy of the CRC handbook of chemistry and physics.

The Distinguished Scientist Award dinner is an annual event sponsored by the Westchester Chemical Society, a subsection of the New York section of the American Chemical Society (ACS).
