Dr. Imani Brown is an educator who focuses on integrating relevant practice insights into her teaching and course curriculum. Upon earning an MS in Accounting from Hofstra University, Dr. Brown served as an assurance professional at Ernst & Young, where she specialized in utilizing current and emerging technologies to complete audit procedures over various financial statement areas. She primarily conducted audits over company financial statements and internal controls over financial reporting, employee benefit plans, and uniform guidance compliance for healthcare clients following the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Brown also holds an active CPA license in New York and maintains proficiency in multiple software platforms commonly used by the public accounting profession, including Microsoft Excel, Alteryx, and UiPath.

Dr. Brown left Ernst & Young to pursue a PhD in Accounting from the Kania School of Management at the University of Scranton. Her dissertation involved interviews with audit leaders at large accounting firms to explore the learning and development best practices and strategies being leveraged to upskill current audit personnel in emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics. Alongside her doctoral studies, Dr. Brown served as the Administrator for Accounting Accreditation and Assessment and adjunct faculty member at her alma mater, Hofstra University. During this position, she advised current and prospective accounting majors with their academic progression and career development and supervised the Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Society student organizations on campus.
