BA in Religious Studies/MA in Theology (joint degree)
University of Mount Saint Vincent (BA) – St. John’s University (MA) Alliance for Graduate Study
An alliance between University of Mount Saint Vincent and St. John’s University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences accepts highly motivated religious studies majors who achieve an impressive record of performance to earn an MA in theology from St. John’s University in an accelerated fashion.
Admission Requirements for Religious Studies Majors:
- GPA of 3.5 or higher in all UMSV courses in Religious Studies
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in all UMSV courses
- 12 credits completed in Religious Studies at UMSV
Religious Studies majors apply for this program at the end of their sophomore year. In the student’s junior and senior year, he/she takes one graduate course each semester, for a total of 12 graduate credits. These credits are applied to the student’s BA degree in religious studies at the University of Mount Saint Vincent and to his/her MA degree at St. John’s University.
Grades are not transferred from St. John’s University to the University of Mount Saint Vincent, only credits transfer. During the year following graduation from University of Mount Saint Vincent, religious studies majors complete all remaining requirements for the MA in theology at St. John’s University.
