Guidelines for the New York State TAP Application

The University of Mount Saint Vincent’s NYS TAP Code is 0130.

Please follow these steps to file your New York State TAP application:

1. Complete the free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
2. On the FAFSA confirmation page, click the link that says “Apply for TAP.” If you missed the link on the FAFSA, you will receive information from HESC about how to apply via email. You can also visit www.hesc.ny.gov
3. Once you are on the HESC website, create a HESC-specific username and personal identification number called a HescPIN
4. You will use your HescPIN to “sign” your TAP application and access your HESC account information in the future
5. Fill out all parts of the TAP application as required
6. Submit your application with the signature. You will receive an email confirmation from HESC
