J.C. Polanco is an attorney and passionate educator with over two decades of experience in the classroom, teaching business law and human resources. His dedication to education is evident from his early days at Harry S. Truman High School, where he served as a social studies teacher and director of the Alexander Hamilton Law Academy while pursuing a law degree and MBA in the evenings. Polanco continued to teach on the Borough of Manhattan Community College faculty, where his courses included History of Latin America, History of the Dominican Republic, the Economic Development of the Caribbean, and Business Law.

Polanco’s extensive involvement in New York politics is marked by his role as President and Commissioner of the Bronx to the New York City Board of Elections and his former position as Director of the New York City Regional Office for the State Assembly. In 2017, Polanco became the first American of Dominican descent to run for a city-wide office on a major party line.

Polanco is a familiar face on major news networks, where he serves as a political and legal analyst for CBS New York, PIX11 News, and NY1. His insightful commentary and analysis have earned him a respected position in the media landscape and instilled confidence in his expertise. In addition to his media appearances and teaching responsibilities, Polanco is the President and CEO of the Council on Legal Education Opportunity, Inc., one of the country’s leading law school pipelines.

Polanco, a lifelong Bronxite, was a New York Yankee Batboy as a teenager in 1994 and 1995.
