Dr. Keenoy’s research focuses on how older adults’ social relationships and communities are connected with their health and well-being. More recently, Dr. Keenoy has explored the role that singlehood during later life plays in health outcomes, with the ultimate goal of inspiring interventions that promote social support, community engagement, and quality of life among this growing population. Guided theoretically by the social convoy model and intersectionality, she is particularly interested in understanding how factors such as race, gender, disability status, and socioeconomic status intersect with singlehood to influence aging experiences. Dr. Keenoy primarily uses quantitative methods to answer research questions but has also explored qualitative methods, including grounded theory. At the Mount, she looks forward to mentoring students in her own research projects, and guiding students through the process of conducting their own research, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive academic environment.
