Understand Your Bill

View Your Bill and Account Balance

Your student account provides the most up-to-date information about your tuition and fees, financial aid, payments, credits, and remaining balance.

To view your current account activity and tuition bill, log in to your Self-Service Portal.

Please note: Tuition bills applicable to registered students are sent by email or mail and are a snapshot of your account as of the date the bill was issued. Changes to registration, financial aid, payments, waivers, housing status or other account activity may change your balance after a bill is generated. Your Self-Service portal provides the most current information about your student account.

If you have questions about your bill, charges, payments, or account balance, please contact the Office of Student Accounts by email for assistance.

Payment Due Dates

Payment due dates vary by semester and program. Always refer to your tuition bill for your specific payment due dates.

The University’s general billing schedule is:

  • Fall Semester: Bills are generally issued in July, with payment due in August.
  • Spring Semester: Bills are generally issued in December, with payment due in January.
  • Summer Semester: Bills are generally issued in April, with payment due in May.

Late Payments, Student Account Holds, and Collections

Students are responsible for resolving their balance by the applicable payment due date. Late fees may be assessed on past-due balances, and an outstanding balance may result in a Student Account Hold. Student Account Holds may affect access to University services. Please review our Student Account Hold Information Guide to learn more about how a hold may affect you and the steps needed to resolve it.

Students who do not resolve their outstanding balance may also be subject to having their course registration withdrawn for non-payment. If registration is withdrawn, students should contact the Office of Student Accounts to determine the steps required to resolve their balance and whether they are eligible to re-register.

Balances that remain unpaid may be referred to a collection agency and may be subject to additional collection fees.

Students are encouraged to contact the Office of Student Accounts as soon as possible with questions about their balance, payment status, or available payment options.

Make A Payment and Payment Plan Options

Both payment options are available through Nelnet Campus Commerce, UMSV’s third-party payment provider.

There are two ways to pay your student account balance:

Option 1: Make a One-Time Payment
Make a single payment toward your student account balance. A one-time payment does not enroll you in a payment plan.

Option 2: Payment Plan Options
Eligible students may divide their semester balance into 2-4 monthly payments through Nelnet. Payment plans do not carry over from semester to semester; a new plan must be established each semester.

Already enrolled? Log in to your Existing Nelnet Payment Plan using your UMSV email, username, and password.

Important: Your payment plan does not automatically adjust if your tuition, fees, or financial aid changes. Review your current balance in Self-Service and contact the Office of Student Accounts if your plan needs to be adjusted or canceled.

Payment Plan Details: A $35 nonrefundable enrollment fee applies per agreement, and a $30 nonrefundable fee applies to returned payments. Credit/debit card payments may also include a convenience fee.
