CMSV 205 Drug Testing Policy

Policy Name: Drug Testing Policy

All accepted applicants to the University of Mount Saint Vincent Master of Science Physician Assistant Program are required to submit to mandatory routine drug testing as a condition of acceptance and continuation in the program. Full acceptance into the program is contingent upon a successful background and routine drug screening.

Please note: A newly admitted student who tests positive will have their acceptance into the program revoked. There are no exceptions to the above policy.

This drug screening process will be repeated at the end of the didactic phase of the program prior to the start of the clinical clerkships. Additionally, a particular clerkship may require, as a part of their acceptance policy, a recent drug screening as a condition of performing within that clerkship.

Students who test positive during the period between the didactic and clinical year, as well as during their clinical clerkship period, will be referred to the Professional Conduct Review Committee where a determination on progression within the program will be decided.

Admitted applicants and students will be notified of the requirement and the process for completion of the drug screening process by the program’s senior staff associate. All results will remain confidential.
