8.3 Academic Freedom

The College recognizes that the purpose of education is the free and unhampered communication of truth and that the purpose of research is the acquisition of truth.

For these reasons the College endorses the 1940 Statement of Principles and Interpretive Comments on Academic Freedom and Tenure of the A.A.U.P. and the Association of American Colleges, and the 1970 Interpretive Comments of the same organizations. Appendix A.
