8.0 Office of Student Activities, Leadership, and Commuter Life (OSALCL)
8.1 About the Office of Student Activities, Leadership and Commuter Life
The Office of Student Activities, Leadership, and Commuter Life (OSALCL) manages the Alumnae Pavilion Student Center, plans and implements campus wide programs, coordinates the functioning of all student clubs and organizations and provides programs and services for commuter students.
The Office of Student Activities and Leadership oversees the Alumnae Pavilion Student Center (APSC) which is comprised of staff offices, a multipurpose room, a game room, a study lounge, and an outdoor patio.
8.3 Student Clubs and Organizations
All full-time, undergraduate Mount Saint Vincent students in good standing are invited to become members of all CMSV club or organization.
All CMSV clubs and organizations support the College’s non-discrimination policy. Individual clubs or organizations may have additional requirements for continued membership, such as attendance at meetings, participation in programs, or service hours.
8.4 Commuter Life
8.4.1 Commuter Assistant (CA) Program
Commuter Assistants are upper class commuter students who are involved in campus life and interested in assisting first year commuter students successfully integrate into the Mount community. CAs advise first year commuter students on issues relating to transitioning to college while living at home, adjusting to the demands of college academics, commuting smartly and parking. CAs provide programs for commuter students and encourage first year commuter students to get involved in campus clubs and organizations and attend campus.
8.4.2 Lockers
Lockers are available to all full time commuting students. Lockers are located on the first floor of Founders Hall and in the Alumnae Pavilion Student Center. Arrangements should be made the first week of the academic year. Lockers will be rented out on a first-come, first-serve basis through the Office of Student Activities, Leadership and Commuter Life.

8.7 College Committees with Student Representation
There are many opportunities for students to participate in ad hoc committees, that is, those that are created for a specific purpose and then disbanded. Students are always welcome to serve on these. In recognition of the fact that each segment of the CMSV community has a unique contribution to make with respect to the development and implementation of College policies, the following standing committees with student representation have been established:
Faculty Senate: The Faculty delegates its authority to act or resolve issues to the Faculty Senate. The Faculty Senate shall serve as the formal and official voice of the College community with the power to initiate, formulate and recommend proposals affecting the College to the President. The Senate shall be the primary channel through which the President shall obtain a representative view on issues affecting College policy. Two SGA members will serve on the Senate. One of these members is the SGA President and the other is selected by SGA. Both student members are non-voting, ex officio members.
Committee on Campus and Student Life: The Campus and Student Life Committee shall act in an advisory capacity to the Dean of Students on matters of College policy and on policies, procedures and compliance with state, federal and other forms of regulation. This committee serves as the state mandated Advisory Committee on Campus Security and NCAA Compliance committee. SGA selects six students to serve on this Committee but only three serve as decided by the Chair.
Committee on Mission: The Committee on Mission serves as a representative body of the College campus community that advises and assists the Executive Director for Mission and Ministry in fostering, assessing, and developing programs to extend the Catholic, Ecumenical, and Inclusive Mission of the College. SGA selects two students to serve on this Committee.
Committee on Institutional Outcomes Assessment: The purpose of the Institutional Outcomes Assessment Committee is to facilitate and enhance the quality of institutional effectiveness and student learning, as well as to inform strategic planning and resource allocation efforts at the University of Mount Saint Vincent. The Committee as a whole shall be known as the Institutional Outcomes Assessment Committee (IOAC), and will include two subcommittees: Academic Assessment and Administrative Assessment. IOAC-ACAD will focus on assessment of student learning, including departmental and core curricula, programs and activities across undergraduate, graduate, and non-credit areas. IOAC-ADMN will focus on assessment of institutional effectiveness, including administrative/operational divisions and departments. SGA selects two students to serve on this Committee. Committee on Institutional Technology: To facilitate the incorporation of appropriate technology to enhance teaching and learning. The Institutional Technology Committee shall act in an advisory capacity to the College Senate and the Vice President for Information Technology to address technology issues. SGA selects one student to serve on this Committee.
Academic Student Grievance Procedure: This panel hears appeals of academic related decisions. Comprised of students, faculty and administrators, the committee maintains confidentiality in all matters and makes recommendations to the appropriate college official. Elected SGA and class officers serve on this committee.
Non Academic Student Grievance Procedure: This panel hears appeals of non-academic related decisions. Comprised of students, faculty and administrators, the committee maintains confidentiality in all matters and makes recommendations to the appropriate college official. Elected SGA and class officers serve on this committee.
