Service

The Candidate for Tenure must provide evidence of appropriate participation in the responsibilities of the department and the faculty. The Candidate for Promotion to Associate Professor must additionally demonstrate appropriate participation in the Faculty as a whole. Including some or all of the following:

  1. Participation in department committees or subcommittees
  2. Involvement in departmental meetings and activities (e.g., Accepted Student Day)
  3. Active participation in curriculum evaluation and reform
  4. Responsiveness to the needs of the department and its students
  5. Mentoring or acting as an advisor to a departmental activity (e.g., Honor Society; departmental event)
  6. Active involvement at meetings, departmental subcommittees and College-wide committee work
  7. Academic advisement (AP)
  8. Grant writing for department or College initiatives
  9. Mentor or advisor to a Class or Student Activity (AP)

The candidate must also demonstrate basic fulfillment of the responsibilities of the faculty, as listed below. (Refer to the Full-Time Instructional Faculty Responsibilities and the Faculty Handbook).

  1. To make teaching assignment is your main professional interest, and you have undertaken Full Time Service during the contract period.
  2. To accept the teaching assignment given by the department chair, after consultation
  3. To support fully the liberal arts tradition and the mission and goals of the college.
  4. To accept non-teaching assignments to student advisement, membership on committees, and mentorship of extra and co-curricular activities.
  5. To comply with regulations concerning syllabi, maintenance of scheduled office hours, submission of final grades, notification of absence, etc
